You were wonderful!!! EVERYTHING about our wedding ended up great–You were so pleasant to work with, helping us plan for every detail– the tent, rentals, music, ideas for menus and decoration… You were easily accessible by phone or email, and always responsive and totally helpful. And your wait staff at the reception was wonderful. YOU’RE THE BEST!! (The presentation) was beautiful. The carts with the apple cider, the antipasto bar, the seafood bar, and the bar itself. So VERMONT!! Everyone loved it!
(The food was) Unbelievably delicious!! All our guests were raving about it, both at the reception as well as the brunch on the morning after. Your whitefish salad and quiches were wonderful. Also was your seafood bar and antipasto bar– and everything! The food could NOT have been better!

An outdoor 130-guest wedding & morning-after brunch for 40 guests

Spice of Life Catering did a fantastic job catering our wedding! We can’t thank them enough. We were planning an out of town wedding – Maggie and Matt put us at complete ease when it came to planning the food and the “little” things. The presentation was beyond what my husband and I were hoping for. Maggie was able to incorporate decorations that my mom had created into the presentation of the food – creating a perfect balance. 
It is a year to the day that I am writing this review, and we still have family and friends commenting on how wonderful the food was at our wedding. I only wish we could have another event in Vermont so that we could have Spice of Life cater it again. The service was exceptional…from the many e-mails that were exchanged before the event, to the day of the event. The waitstaff seemed to disappear into the background during our wedding, and went out of their way to make sure Jason and I were taken care of.

A cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception for 140 people

You guys are truly amazing. Our wedding went off perfectly all thanks to you. With the threat of rain you had everything setup inside and out so we could make a last minute decision. We truly appreciate all of the little details that you tended to for us. You even packed us some food to go, so we could get a chance to truly enjoy the cuisine after we were done hosting. We had a lot of guests who consider themselves “foodies” and all of them took the time to compliment us on every dish that was served in taste and in presentation. The presentation was absolutely amazing. A country feel, but with a cosmopolitan elegance. The bar, the linens, the card holders on the tables and the buffet, the food…..the list goes on but everything was beautiful. 
The food was wonderful and it was highly complimented by the service your staff provided. Everyone was knowledgeable and friendly. The best part was everyone was willing to go the flow when we had to alter our time frame due to the weather.

Wedding for 115 guests

Matt and Maggie went above and beyond for Steve and me from our very first meeting/ tasting. They were incredibly knowledgeable, fun, creative, reliable, adaptive, enthusiastic, and accommodating to our needs every step of the way! They were always professional, yet casual, consistently proving their expertise with great ideas and suggestions. We had a couple of obstacles for our wedding – I, the bride, broke my tibia/fibula 3 weeks before the wedding and was in a cast/on crutches for the big day…AND we had a MAJOR wind and rain storm to contend with on the big day. 
Matt and Maggie were amazing to us throughout and helped to make these challenges minimal for us. Matt bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed, even going back to the site the night before to facilitate changing the setup and the layout of the tents due to the forecasted stormy weather!!! 
I can’t say enough about how committed Spice of Life was to helping us have a beautiful and magical wedding day!! One of the most important steps in planning a smooth and logistically sound wedding is to choose a reliable, talented, and committed caterer. EVERYTHING else falls into place after that step. Spice of Life is that caterer!! 
The presentation was unique, specific to our theme, and had the “WOW” factor! Both the HUGE Vermont cracker, cheese, and hors d’oeuvres table and the salad cart were particular favorites at our wedding! A favorite of mine was the tables…they looked amazing! When I had last seen the tent it was bare and brown. When I arrived after the ceremony, it was truly a magnificent site to see! The table names, the flowers, the linens, our colors blue and yellow were everywhere and it was vibrant and alive! Matt and Maggie and the staff had pulled everything together perfectly! I couldn’t believe the transformation! 
The FOOD!!!!! It was absolutely amazing! Flavorful, HOT (which can be difficult for 200+ people), and memorable! EVERYONE commented on the delicious food at our wedding, which still makes Steve and I proud of our decision to go with Spice of Life! The service was excellent. The servers were attentive and present. Some of our guests, who have been to many weddings and formal affairs, mentioned that a server could always be found nearby and that whenever something needed clearing or refilling, it was addressed immediately. The servers were professional and had obviously been trained very well by Matt and Maggie. Everything that day was perfect (minus the obvious cast and crutches, of course)…just the way I had always dreamt it to be.

Thank you ever so much for making our daughter’s wedding day a perfect celebration. Your knowledgeable guidance throughout the past year was invaluable, we never could have planned such an event ourselves. In addition, your service was outstanding: each and every guest felt completely cared for which made us so happy.
Maggie, you are a master of orchestration, our reception could not have flowed better! Everyone had the best time, most importantly the bride and groom. So creative and fresh, your awesome food was prepared to perfection! One of the groom’s family friends said it so well, “All the food seemed to have just been picked from the garden and the local market!” Everyone was so tickled by the fiddleheads, a special thank you for making that happen! You created a delightful Vermont dinner, a perfect in the simplicity of the Skinner Barn.

Everything went perfectly- Matt and Maggie, as well as the rest of the staff, were extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. Everything looked beautiful and exactly the way we imagined. Everyone raved about the food! It was exactly what we wanted and we loved every dish. Our guests are still talking about their favorite parts. Our guests actually commented on how friendly and helpful the service staff was- everyone we talked to was so accommodating and professional, everyone did such a wonderful job.

Phenomenal…Trust these guys, they do it right! Creative and innovative, keeping my tastes and intentions in mind at all times. Open to any and all my crazy ideas and trying to realize them.
The teamwork, organization and implementation were excellent. The bar, the bar team, the wine guys, the oyster shucker and of course Matt the beef carver and Maggie’s artful presentation demonstrated each of their talents beautifully. All our guests raved about the food and drink and style of it all.

July 2008 Birthday party for 200 guests

This was the first time I planned an event for my place of work. Matt and Maggie were great to work with and answered all my questions and concerns. I valued their excellent ideas and suggestions. I would gladly work with them for any upcoming event whether it be for work or for my own event! They went out of their way to impress our guests. The food was absolutely sinful and the service was exceptional.

Spice of Life Catering rocks! It is almost 2 months since our magical wedding at Boyden Farm, VT and our guests are still raving about the best wedding food they ever ate! Not only was the food exceptional, but the presentation was so original and unique–everyone was blown away. We were beyond impressed with your professionalism, and we also thoroughly enjoyed the entire staff at our event–you guys were so friendly and just awesome! Food and drink were very important to us when planning our wedding and we are so thankful we found Spice of Life to create our dream menu. We can’t thank SOL enough for exceeding all of our high expectations, and really, our guests have not stopped talking about how delicious the food was and varied the bar was–I think we will all be thinking about it for a long time to come! Wedding for 130

Dear Matt and Maggie,
I have been trying to think of how to write and thank you both for the absolutely unimaginably fantastic job you did on Chelsea and Matt’s reception. There are truly NO WORDS. We were totally BLOWN AWAY by it all. The attention to detail, the artistry of your presentation, the unique and fabulous style but most of all the taste, the wonderful taste of the food was incredible. Everything was so, so delicious. I thought all of our guests from NC and Virginia were going to pass out, the wonderful cheese wagon against the backdrop of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains on the green grass was so breathtaking.
Then to the barn to enjoy such a fabulous meal—so perfectly prepared and served. My husband was so overwhelmed by your talent as chefs and business people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the big things and all the little things from the beginning on your front porch last summer with Matt running to and from the garden for nasturtiums to the end when Maggie was wrapping all our centerpieces in saran for us to take home and for wrapping up all the wedding cake which we are still enjoying.
Matt, you did a masterful job and Maggie, thank you for your patience and attention to detail after detail after detail. We loved every minute, it was magic. We thank you, thank you for sharing your incredible gift with us and feel honored that we got to experience such a memorable evening with you and your staff—you truly were the spice of our life that night.

Just wanted to thank you profusely for a job well done! In fact, from our point of view, things went off without a hitch. We had rave reviews on the stationary appetizers, both for taste and beauty, and thank you for leaving them there on the deck, because many people discovered and enjoyed them later in the evening.
I thought your arrangement of the tables looked lovely, and the buffet worked so well in Awesome Forces. The food was all delicious, and your crew was universally complimented as beiung both pleasant and efficient. Thanks, Maggie, for taking on so many little tasks which were above and beyond, from microphone to missing places at tables to rounding up flowers at the end. I don’t know how you do it all so efficiently and with such good grace. You were a joy to work with throughout and John and I were both delilghted with the final event. Dear Matt & Maggie,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Words cannot express how lucky we feel to have found you folks for our wedding reception.
From finding us tablecloths to setting out centerpeices and lighting tiki torches you folks have been marvelous. Ceremony 45 minutes late–No problem! Maggie your calm demeanor was wonderful. The servers were great! We haven’t even gotten to the food–WOW. Absolutely delicious…and we’re picky. Everyone loved their meal, which is something that was very important to us. We wanted the meal to be a highlight of the evening, not an afterthought, and thanks to Spice of Life it was fabulous.
Our only regret is that we don’t know enough people in Vermont to send more business your way, because you folks and your staff are truely spectacular.

Dear Matt & Maggie,
We’ve been meaning to thank you for doing such an outstanding job at our wedding at the Lang Barn in July. When we met for a consultation in October, Matt had said that his idea of a sucess would be if the guests walked away talking about the food. Well, it’s been four months and the guests are still talking about the food! In fact, every one of our guests have raved about the food, the beautiful presentation and the friendly service.
We were particularly blown away by the lavish cheese/charcuterie/antipasto cart, it completely exceeded our expectations. Everything in the spread was delicious and the large size of the rustic cart (which was completely filled with an indescribable array of treats) made the food accesible and prevented lines.
We can’t thank you enough for making our wedding such a special and memorable occasion!
